The iPads allow the students to access the same content digitally not only during class, but on their own. Using the tablets' text-to-speech feature, children who cannot read well can highlight the content, plug in their headphones and listen to it instead. The iPads' many accessibility settings make them easily used by students with other types of disabilities, said the district's special education technology coordinator Bambi Dubke.

http://navigator.nmc.org/clipping/mankato-initiative-transforms-special-education#comments 1 to 1 1:1 device disabilities disibility HZ 144 iPad lacrossetribune.com one to one personal device personal learning path personalization special education tablet K-12 Stories, Examples, Food for Thought K12 Tue, 28 Oct 2014 16:28:26 +0000 Michele Cummins 22834 at http://navigator.nmc.org A Call for a Public College Quality Compact http://navigator.nmc.org/clipping/call-public-college-quality-compact
A new report from the Center for American Progress proposes that the federal government create a fund that would encourage states to invest in public colleges and universities. But things are changing. Vocational high schools are focusing much more on preparing students for higher education. To be successful in this kind of economy, experts say workers have to be multi-skilled and able to retrain for new jobs throughout their careers. Everyone needs a good academic foundation in order to do that, experts say, and most kids in vocational programs were not getting that foundation.

http://navigator.nmc.org/clipping/rethinking-vocational-high-school-path-college#comments Higher Education HZ 144 marketplace.org vocational education vocational high school vocational program K-12 Stories, Examples, Food for Thought HiEd K12 Sat, 25 Oct 2014 03:39:49 +0000 Michele Cummins 22830 at http://navigator.nmc.org 10 Uses of Drones in Higher Education [Slideshare] http://navigator.nmc.org/clipping/10-uses-drones-higher-education-slideshare
Brian A.
